Minimal Reduction Porcelain Veneers in Davie, FL

We plan the shape, thickness and position of every veneer before we touch a tooth, so we can keep as much of your natural enamel as your case allows.

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its color, shape or width. Most people come to us wanting straighter, brighter front teeth. What they usually do not expect is how much natural tooth we can leave in place when the veneers are planned properly first.

Minimal Reduction to No Reduction Veneers

Veneers often mean filing down healthy enamel. We work the other way around. We study your bite, the position of each tooth and the change you want, then design the veneer thickness to fit that plan. In some cases that means shaping very little tooth. In a few cases it means shaping none at all. How far we can go depends on your case, and we will tell you honestly.

What the Process Feels Like, Start to Finish

Most cases run across a few visits rather than one. The first is talking, photos and a close look at your teeth and your bite. At the preparation visit your mouth is numb, and because the plan calls for minimal reduction there is far less shaping than most people brace themselves for. Between visits, your porcelain is being made at the lab. When it is ready, we check the fit, the edges and the shade with you before anything is bonded, so a change is still easy to make.

When Veneers Are the Right Fit

Veneers do their best work on healthy teeth and healthy gums, where what bothers you is color, shape or a small difference in position. Decay or gum problems get treated first. If you grind at night, we deal with that before and after, usually with a night guard. And if your teeth sit well out of line, straightening them with Invisalign is often the better answer.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With good care, well over a decade is a reasonable expectation, and plenty go longer. What shortens it is grinding, an untreated bite problem, or using your front teeth to open things. If one chips years down the line, or the gum line around it shifts, a single veneer can usually be replaced on its own rather than redoing the whole set.

Do veneers need special care at home?

Less than people expect. Brush twice a day, floss properly between them, and keep your checkups at our Davie dental office so we can watch the edges and the gum line. Wear a night guard if you grind. Porcelain resists staining better than natural enamel does, but the teeth beside it still stain, so rinsing after coffee or red wine helps.

Will I see the plan before you start?

Yes. You see the plan before anything permanent happens. We show you the shape, the length and the position we are proposing, and you tell us what you like and what you do not. If something feels too long, too wide or too white, that is the moment to say so. Nothing gets bonded until you are happy with the design.

What happens at the complimentary cosmetic consultation?

We look at your teeth and your bite, listen to what bothers you and talk through the options that would actually get you there. Sometimes that is veneers. Sometimes it is whitening or bonding, and we will say so. We also work out how many teeth to treat, since treating two and leaving their neighbors rarely looks right. You leave with a plan and a personalized estimate, at no cost for the visit itself.

What is a minimal reduction to no reduction veneer?

It is a veneer planned so we shape as little natural tooth as your case allows, and in some cases none at all. Whether that is possible depends on your bite, where your teeth sit now and how big a change you want. We tell you at the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does getting porcelain veneers hurt?

Your mouth is numb for the preparation visit, so what people describe afterwards is pressure and time in the chair rather than pain. Planning for minimal reduction means there is usually less tooth work than expected. Tell us if you are nervous and we will slow the visit down.
  • Will anyone be able to tell I have veneers?

Not if they are designed well. The giveaway is usually veneers that are too white, too flat or all exactly the same size. We build in the small differences real teeth have, and we keep the length in line with your lip and your face.
  • Should I whiten my teeth before getting veneers?

Often yes. Whitening changes natural teeth but not porcelain, so it makes sense to settle on your shade first and then match the veneers to it. If we are only treating your front teeth, the teeth beside them need to be the right color too.
  • Can veneers close a gap between my front teeth?

Often, yes. A veneer can make a tooth slightly wider and close a small space. If the gap is large or the teeth are well out of line, moving them with Invisalign first usually gives a better result and takes less tooth. We will tell you which one you need.
  • How much do porcelain veneers cost?

It depends on how many teeth we are treating and what each one needs, so we do not publish a price. Your complimentary cosmetic consultation at our Davie dental office ends with a personalized estimate, before you decide anything.
